About The Position

This is a shop hourly position primarily responsible for carpentry skills and the use of various tools including a radial arm saw, circular saw, nail gun, and tape measure. The role involves reading blueprints, scheduling, crating, skidding, staging loads, documentation, loading material, put-away, kitting, and adhering to inter-company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Good writing and oral communication skills.
  • Competent in math including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractional computations, and fraction to decimal conversions.
  • Good product knowledge.
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly to change.
  • Carpentry skills and familiarity with all machinery or tooling required.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to manufacture skids and knock down crates to blueprints.
  • Ability to identify various types of wood.
  • Ability to read a tape measure.
  • Efficiency in crating Inter-Company material minimizing scrap.
  • Ability to prioritize scheduling between all lines requirements and Inter-Company.
  • Working knowledge of Inter-Company procedures and policies.
  • Familiarity with Inter-Company shipment requirements.
  • Knowledge of various purchased and manufactured parts.
  • Ability to accurately pull and document material in a timely fashion.
  • Capability to kitting accurately for all lines.
  • Assist in receiving and putting away incoming material as time allows.
  • Understanding and adherence to LEAN principles.
  • Familiarity with ISO procedures, policies, and instructions to ensure quality.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and train junior team members.
  • Meet or exceed production goals for the shift.
  • Complete and document all critical material receiving inspections as specified.
  • Perform cycle counts on a weekly basis.
  • Operate overhead crane and be aware of balance and load limits.
  • Operate forklift and stock picker.
  • Accurately pull and document material in a timely fashion.
  • Schedule multiple shipments to due dates of customers to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Crate Inter-Company material.
  • Meet quality standards consistently.
  • Help achieve departmental safety goals.
  • Maintain and sustain 5's in the department.
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, and assigned.
