This position's primary focus is the overall operation and/or production of processes and materials, as directed. In 1944, Hickory Springs Manufacturing (HSM) started a small production of furniture springs in Hickory, NC. We are a leading supplier of diversified components for the bedding, furniture, and GSA industries. We also produce polyester fiber batting, formed steel wire, flexible polyurethane foam fabrication. Hickory Springs continues to extend its original product lines to include sleeper mechanisms, adjustable bed bases, roll packed mattresses and fabric encased micro coils. The diversification of our process and products allows us to stay true to our original values promised to our customers by excelling in producing quality and innovative products.

  • Support team on Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity, Job Knowledge, and Employee Engagement.
  • Efficiently operate within various assembly areas throughout production department.
  • Communicate with team and escalate issues to leadership team.
  • Monitoring individual performance to ensure daily production goals are met, report issues to Lead.
  • Properly operate various types of non-complex machinery (to include sewers and scanners).
  • Perform other duties and tasks, as assigned by immediate supervisor or authorized HSM Manager.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends if necessary.
  • Record production where assigned.
  • Actively participate in housekeeping requirements for the department.
  • Follows proper safety guidelines. Report injuries, unsafe conditions and hazardous materials to a supervisor/manager immediately.
  • Abide by all HAZMAT regulations regarding transport and storage of chemicals, as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Prior experience and/or in-depth knowledge of manufacturing plant/process/materials.
  • Must be able to read and understand orders and spec sheets.
  • Must be able to do simple math (add, subtract, divide, and multiply) and use a tape measure.
  • Work conditions can reach extreme temperate environments.
  • Will be subject to moderate noise from machine and metal parts, hearing protection may be required.
  • Occasionally require being exposed to fumes, high noise, solvents and grease.
  • Must have good motor skills, to include vision and hearing.
  • Ability to operate machinery for up to 12 hours per day.
  • Ability to stand, bend at waist, stretch or reach, and twist frequently.
  • May require doing repetitive motions using all extremities.
  • Long periods of sitting, standing and frequent walking involved in the job.
  • Must be able to push, pull, bend, stoop, twist, and grasp materials as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
