Our Small Piece Assemblers continually work with their hands and deal with small details. With the assistance of microscopes and tweezers, the Assembler will build components and sub-assemblies for high-powered lasers following a set routine with specific procedures and instructions while operating machinery and standing at a workstation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Perform light manufacturing and use of assembly equipment, such as ultrasonic welder, soldering stations, optical fiber cutters/strippers, screwdrivers, tape measure, wrenches, and other small hand tools.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Minimum of 1-2 Years of related assembly experience.
  • Perform tasks and carries out successive steps of routine work in accordance with instructions provided by the supervisor, policies, and procedures; requires instructions only on new assignments.
  • Work well with others as part of a team.
  • Ability to access Company email, benefits, payroll, and other applications.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and follow verbal and written work instructions.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Requires basic skills to read and follow blueprint schematics.
  • Able to lift up to a maximum of 50 pounds at times.
  • Able to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Hand-eye coordination in order to work with small fiber-optic components

Nice To Haves

  • Microscope experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, kit, install, and assemble components of fiber-optic medical products: optical fibers, ferrules, connectors, and packaging components.
  • Operate manufacturing test equipment: fiber-optic strippers and cleavers, power meters, oscilloscopes, laser test stations, RFID readers, and microscopes.
  • Use bonding materials: epoxies, glues, etc.
  • Wear appropriate cleanroom attire, work in a controlled manufacturing area requiring coats, hair and beard nets, gloves, and booties.
  • Use generic cleaning liquids (alcohol, isopropanol alcohol, acetone, etc.).
  • Maintain cleanliness of work and common areas.
  • Crosstrain in production process or area as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Meet assigned production metrics as defined by the Supervisor.
  • Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Perform basic setup, and troubleshooting of equipment as needed.
  • Train other assemblers as assigned
