About The Position

The Assembler Boot Camp Trainer serves as the on-site trainer responsible for delivering and facilitating a skills-based onboarding boot camp for new assemblers within the Modular Mission Critical (MMC) facility. This role focuses on hands-on instruction, coaching, and assessment of foundational assembly skills (tools, torque, drawings, quality, and standard work) to prepare new hires for entry into production. The Trainer executes a standardized boot camp curriculum and ensures participants demonstrate readiness for supervised line assignment. This position is intended to be a rescoped operational role, leveraging strong assembly and floor leadership experience rather than formal training management credentials.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required with 10+ years of experience or 5+ with a Bachelor's degree.
  • Demonstrated experience as an assembler, foreman, or similar hands-on production role within a manufacturing or modular assembly environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of assembly tools, fasteners, torque practices, and quality expectations.
  • Deep understanding of the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence efforts.
  • Ability to coach and assess others in a hands-on, shop-floor environment.
  • Comfortable enforcing standards and making pass/fail readiness decisions.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with diverse skill levels.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate delivery of the Assembler Boot Camp using established curriculum, facilitator guides, and assessment tools.
  • Demonstrate and coach foundational assembly skills, including:
  • Hand and power tool use
  • Mechanical fasteners and torque application
  • Drawing and standard work interpretation
  • Quality expectations and stop-work behaviors
  • Observe learner performance and conduct skill assessments using defined readiness criteria.
  • Provide real-time coaching and corrective feedback while reinforcing safety, quality, and standard work.
  • Make documented go/no-go recommendations for learner readiness to transition to supervised line work.
  • Prepare and maintain hands-on training stations, tools, and materials used in boot camp.
  • Coordinate with Operations leadership on training schedules, cohort flow, and production constraints.
  • Escalate learner performance issues or safety concerns appropriately.
  • Partner with the Education/L&D team to provide feedback on curriculum effectiveness and execution challenges.
  • Maintain basic training records and completion documentation as required.
