Requirements

  • Comfort in a Manufacturing Environment – You’re familiar with—or eager to learn—how things get built, from using hand tools to working with machinery.

  • Dependability – Strong attendance, ability to follow instructions, and willingness to put in overtime when needed.
  • Previous experience with basic hand tools.
  • Read and interpret tape measures, safety manuals, work orders, and blueprints.
  • Stand for extended periods and work in various physical positions.
  • Lift and manipulate parts/equipment weighing up to 35 lbs.
  • Maintain balance on ladders, steps, trucks, and slippery surfaces.
  • Operate and access heavy equipment safely and effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and follow instructions consistently.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or operations environment.
  • Previous experience as a Pierce team member or contractor.

Responsibilities

  • Building & Sub-Assembling Components – Assemble parts and systems that become the backbone of our specialized fire trucks.
  • Using Tools & Equipment – Safely operate hand tools, power tools, cranes/hoists, and forklifts to move and install parts.
  • Precision Work – Drill, sand, grind, buff, clamp, screw, glue, tape, and fit parts together with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Blueprint Reading & Measurement – Interpret prints, work orders, and checklists to ensure proper fit, alignment, and function.
  • Collaboration & Teamwork – Partner with co-workers to lift, install, or test parts, ensuring production flows smoothly.
  • Commitment to Safety & Quality – Follow safety protocols, wear required PPE, and perform quality checks throughout the process.
  • Flexibility & Support – Assist with other tasks such as cable routing, part inspections, training new employees, or supporting other departments as needed.
