About The Position

This Cell Therapy Summer Intern position at Bristol Myers Squibb is a hands-on, laboratory-based role within the Assay and Data Automation group. This internship offers a unique opportunity for candidates to gain practical experience with various cell therapy analytical methods while working at the intersection of development and manufacturing. The role will specifically support the development and implementation of automated cell therapy analytical methods. Interns will be involved in programming automated liquid handling systems, designing (and executing) experiments, analyzing results, and communicating findings across multiple teams. Candidates will work both independently and under the guidance of a manager, demonstrating strong written and oral communication skills throughout the internship. The position will also allow interns to gain functional knowledge of cell therapy analytics, assay automation, laboratory equipment, and exposure to industry standards in clinical and developmental CAR-T manufacturing. This full-time internship program will take place over ten to twelve weeks, between June and September of 2026.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Master's degree or a rising Senior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Bioengineering, Chemistry, Biology, or another related field
  • Experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Basic understanding of bioanalytical methods, as well as molecular and/or cellular biology
  • Strong communication and organization skills
  • Willingness to learn with hands-on participation

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with lab automation is a plus, but not required
  • Scripting or software development experience is a plus, but not required
  • A passion and curiosity for creating and building things
  • The ability to thrive in a collaborative team

Responsibilities

  • Develop script for automated liquid handling systems
  • Design and execute experiments under supervision to evaluate the performance of cell therapy analytical methods, both manually and on automated platforms
  • Complete timely and thorough documentation using electronic laboratory notebooks
  • Critically analyze and interpret data using statistical methods
  • Communicate study findings across multiple departments
  • Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with policies/procedures/regulations
