About The Position

Family & Children’s Agency (FCA) is a nonprofit human service organization that is committed to increasing the social and emotional well-being of our clients – people throughout Fairfield County. Our Agency builds better lives by offering more than 30 programs that meet needs across all ages, delivering services to more than 13,000 people each year. Our clients reside primarily in Norwalk, Wilton, Darien, Westport, Weston, New Canaan, Stamford, and Greenwich. Our Home Care and Foster Care programs provide assistance to residents throughout Fairfield County, and the Adoption program is both nationwide and international. Our Mission is to partner with individuals, families, organizations and communities to build better lives. The purpose of the ASPIRE Summer Program is to provide hands on educational and learning for middle school students (who are clients in FCA’s ASPIRE after school program). The goal is to have the students engaged in cross-curriculum activities that are interesting and fun while broadening their exposure to various educational and cultural activities. The program is run at the Ben Franklin Center located at 66 Bayview Avenue in South Norwalk. ASPIRE is on the 3rd floor. The ASPIRE summer program internship gives the intern exposure to a social service agency. Interns provide hands on educational learning for middle school students (who are clients in FCA’s ASPIRE after school program). The goal is to have the students engaged in cross-curriculum activities that are interesting and fun while broadening their exposure to various educational and cultural activities. This program serves approximately 50 students ages 10-14, many of whom have multiple barriers to success. Interns have a key leadership role with the ASPIRE staff and work on developing the summer curriculum, executing lessons, helping students learn life skills, chaperoning field trips and assisting with student events. This is a great opportunity to learn from a team of social workers and educators in an informal relaxed atmosphere.
