About The Position

The Asphalt Screed Operator is a crucial crew member responsible for the application of asphalt on highways, private roadways, parking lots, and driveways by operating screed controls. This position requires collaboration with other crew members to ensure that asphalt is applied according to plan specifications and that daily schedules and estimates are met. The operator must adhere to all company policies and procedures for safe working practices and report any issues to the foreman or safety manager. Flexibility with schedule changes and the ability to work overtime or out of town is necessary.

Requirements

• Demonstrable previous experience as a Screed Operator.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Ability to understand work directions and communicate effectively.
• Knowledge of signals used to communicate with construction machinery operators.
• Minimum of three to five years of industry-related experience, particularly in roads, highways, and bridges.

Responsibilities

• Operate the asphalt paver and make adjustments for proper depth, grade, and finished cross-section of asphalt material.
• Collaborate with crew members to apply asphalt per plan specifications.
• Perform tasks of other positions as instructed by the crew foreman.
• Follow all company policies and procedures for safe working practices.
• Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager.
• Adhere to Traffic Control instructions and safety standards.
• Maintain personal protective equipment (PPE) in functional condition.
