Perform general asphalt related construction tasks involving physical labor at highway and heavy construction projects. May operate hand and power tools of all types as well as a variety of other equipment used to spread asphalt. May clean and prepare sites as well as clean up rubble and debris. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Asphalt Paving Division Operate power and hand tools as required. Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials. Smooth and finish asphalt, using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered finishing tools. Tend pumps, compressors, and generators to provide power for tools, machinery, and equipment, or to heat and move materials such as asphalt. Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools. Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards. Control traffic passing near, in, and around work zones. Load and unload materials, machinery, and tools. Mix ingredients to create compounds for covering or cleaning surfaces. Provide assistance to asphalt distributors and asphalt pavers. Perform necessary work while complying with all company policies and procedures. Perform additional duties as required or directed by immediate supervisors or other manager. Work long, flexible hours as demanded by our customers including nights and weekends. Work outside for extended periods during all seasons of the year. Must have regular and predictable attendance.
