About The Position

The Asphalt Plant Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of an asphalt production facility. This role involves monitoring plant systems, adjusting controls, performing routine maintenance, and ensuring production meets quality specifications and environmental standards.

Requirements

  • Previous experience operating an asphalt plant or similar industrial equipment preferred
  • Knowledge of asphalt production processes and materials is a plus
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues
  • Basic computer skills for operating control systems and logging data
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control
  • Ability to work independently and make real-time decisions
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to stand, walk, and climb for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Work in outdoor environments with exposure to heat, dust, and noise
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions
  • Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor asphalt plant equipment, including burners, conveyors, silos, and control systems
  • Adjust plant settings to maintain proper material mix, temperature, and output levels
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on plant equipment
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues to minimize downtime
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies
  • Coordinate with truck drivers, quality control personnel, and supervisors to ensure timely production and delivery
  • Maintain accurate production logs, reports, and documentation
  • Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and notify management of shortages
  • Keep plant and surrounding work area clean and organized
