O&G Industries, Inc., an innovative and diversified construction company based out of Torrington, CT, seeks dependable and mechanically inclined individuals to join our team as an Asphalt Plant Operator . This position will be based primarily in Fairfield County , with the ability to commute to other asphalt plant locations in the Western CT as needed. We are a highly respected leader in our field and ranked as one of the top construction firms in the Northeast. This position is subject to union membership requirements; however, applicants are not required to be union members at the time of application. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on work, has strong troubleshooting ability, and takes pride in keeping equipment running safe and efficiently. Whether you have direct asphalt experience or a strong mechanical background and are eager to learn, we are willing to train the right candidate. This role offers steady, year-round employment and the opportunity to work with a team that values safety, quality, and communication.
Requirements
- Mechanical experience preferred
- Basic computer skills
- Welding experience strongly preferred
- Ability to work varying shifts and hours, including nights and weekends, based on operational needs
- Willing to travel between plant locations and support field operations as needed
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
Nice To Haves
- Asphalt plant experience is a plus, but not required
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor asphalt plant equipment to meet production goals and quality standards
- Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs on plant equipment
- Assist with welding work as needed
- Monitor plant controls and maintain accurate production and maintenance documentation
- Communicate with supervisors, truck drivers, and customers to support daily operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment
- Support plant start-ups, shutdowns, and emergency repairs during peak production
- Travel between plant locations as required
