About The Position

WSP USA currently has an opportunity available for an Asphalt Plant Level II Technician to join our growing organization in West Palm Beach, FL. The Asphalt Plant Technician is responsible for performing onsite inspections, observations and materials testing such as extraction testing, gradation testing, maximum and bulk specific gravity tests inside an asphalt plant laboratory. Technicians are expected to ensure all testing equipment used functions properly, is maintained, and calibrated as per FDOT Specifications. Additionally, responsibilities include preparing daily production reports, reviewing contractor Quality Control reports and quantities, and submitting daily timesheets for invoicing. Requirements

  • Experience in construction materials testing and inspection operations.
  • Proficient in interpreting and adhering to ASTM/AASHTO standards.
  • Effective communication skills for positive interaction with project team members and clients.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and adept at handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Capable of conducting lab testing tasks, including lifting heavy samples.
  • Able to perform duties involving prolonged standing and repetitive movements.
  • Self-driven, diligent, and able to work both independently and in team settings.
  • Proficient in completing assignments within specified guidelines and deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Must meet background check and driving record requirements as per company policy.
  • Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and compliance with company policies.
  • Flexible with work schedules to accommodate project needs beyond regular hours.

Nice To Haves

  • FDOT CTQP Qualified Asphalt Plant Level I & II certifications
  • Experience with FDOT Materials Acceptance and Certification System (MAC)

Responsibilities

  • Participate in annual proficiency sample programs.
  • Possess strong knowledge of laboratory tests, field testing procedures, and inspections.
  • Function as the main point of contact with client and contractor representatives.
  • Demonstrate ability to make sound decisions based on judgment and experience.
  • Uphold responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and conduct, following WSP’s Code of Conduct.
  • Travel, as needed based on project requirements.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as dictated by business needs.
