About The Position

The Asphalt Plant Helper/Operator position at Payne + Dolan, Inc. involves assisting in the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment used in asphalt production. Requirements

• Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.
• Punctual and dependable with the ability to work varied hours including nights, early mornings, and weekends.
• Capacity to tolerate and work in variable weather conditions and dirty, dusty environments.
• Ability to work in confined spaces and on elevated platforms, including heights over 50'.
• Mechanical/Fabricating and repair experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• High School diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience and/or education in a related field preferred.
• Member of the appropriate trade union or willingness to become a union member.

Responsibilities

• Help operate, maintain, and repair equipment used to produce asphalt mix.
• Follow safety requirements to maintain a safe work environment.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work site, including shoveling, sweeping, and skid steer operation.
• Monitor equipment operation for consistent flow of materials to produce high-quality asphalt.
• Load out trucks for material distribution utilizing computerized operations.
• Feed aggregate materials into the asphalt plant.
• Replace wear components on plant equipment, including cutting, welding, and fabricating.
• Work on elevated platforms and enter confined spaces as needed.
• Monitor aggregate gradations and moisture contents to ensure material consistency.
• Monitor hot mix asphalt test results to verify quality and compliance with specifications.
