Position Overview Responsible for the safety, operations, scheduling, training, quality, and productivity of all Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) personnel and equipment within the Operating Company. Ensure efficient production while supporting the policies, goals, and objectives of the Company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Knowledge of OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft suite of tools including Excel, Word and Outlook, and database software. Must be able to utilize internet and communicate effectively.
  • Must be 18 years in age or older.
  • Pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check will be required.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Standard state-issued driver's license
  • Demonstrated ability to train, motive and lead employees.
  • Basic knowledge of labor and employment laws.
  • Demonstrate basic mathematical skills as well as the ability to interpret and compute basic formulas.
  • Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities.
  • Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.
  • Demonstrate a strong dedication to meeting the needs and expectations of our external customers.

  • Able to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently walk and sit as well as occasionally required to stand and reach.
  • Ability to occasionally climb stairs, ladders, inclined walkways, and access elevated platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and coordinate the activities of the HMA departments including production, inventory management, mobilization, quality, equipment maintenance, and record keeping.
  • Ensure that all operations are in full compliance with federal, state, and local regulations including OSHA, MSHA, etc.
  • Monitor HMA operational performance against budget, performance, target setting, and quality standards.
  • Identify and implement operational performance optimization opportunities to enhance the company's financial returns.
  • Create and manage HMA capital improvement plans, strategic planning, schedules, winter maintenance budgets and assist in annual budget targets.
  • Lead HMA department managers in safety best practices and implementation of new or changing production and maintenance procedures, purchasing guidelines, and technical training.
  • Implement and manage the equipment and HMA production maintenance best practices, with an emphasis on safety, efficiency, planning, scheduling, preventive maintenance, and equipment utilization.
  • Assist Accounting in HMA production and costs, inventory management, equipment utilization, equipment disposals/acquisition costing, and reclamation.
  • Manage the personnel via department leaders in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable employment laws. This includes training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding employees, disciplining employees, long term personnel development and succession planning, as well as addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Support employees and supervisors with utilizing a variety of systems including blending controls, JWS ticketing and PRISM.
  • Other duties as assigned
