About The Position

As an Asphalt Distribution Driver / Tack Truck Operator with Austability ( https://austability.com/ ), you will play a critical hands-on role in the paving process by operating specialized distributor equipment to apply CSS-1 and CSS-1H emulsions. This position is essential to ensuring proper bonding between pavement layers, directly impacting the durability and quality of runway and base infrastructure. You'll work closely with paving crews, quality control teams, and site leadership in a safety-first, high-performance environment.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of experience operating asphalt distributor/tack trucks.
  • Hands-on experience working with CSS-1 and CSS-1H emulsions.
  • Knowledge of proper application rates, temperature control, and paving processes.
  • OSHA 10 certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid DOT medical card.
  • Strong attention to detail and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to work outdoors in physically demanding conditions.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork.

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate asphalt distributor/tack truck, including spray systems, burners, and pumps.
  • Apply CSS-1 and CSS-1H emulsions at specified application rates (0.05–0.20 gal/yd²).
  • Monitor and maintain proper temperature and circulation of materials.
  • Adjust spray bar settings to ensure uniform and consistent coverage.
  • Perform pre- and post-operation equipment inspections.
  • Follow all safety protocols and compliance standards (EM 385-1-1, OSHA, DOT).
  • Maintain detailed logs for material usage, temperature, and site conditions.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and support paving crew operations as needed.
  • Collaborate with field teams, QC personnel, and supervisors to ensure project quality standards are met.
