The position involves serving as a sign language interpreter for an American Sign Language (ASL) classroom. The interpreter will provide ASL interpretation and/or cued language transliteration in various environments, including classrooms, staff meetings, large/formal training meetings, department meetings, IEP meetings, and interactions with supervisors and colleagues. The role requires effective facilitation of communication between American Sign Language and/or cued language and English, while adhering to the RID (Registry of Interpreters of the Deaf) and/or TECUnit Code of Professional Conduct. The interpreter should possess knowledge of technical signs and/or vocabulary used in educational environments and demonstrate dependability, flexibility, and organization. Collaboration with teachers and staff is essential, along with a willingness to participate in interpreter training opportunities.
