ASIC SoC Verification Team Leader

EricssonAustin, TX

About The Position

You'll be joining Ericsson Silicon — the team building the custom ASICs that power the world's most advanced 5G networks. Reporting directly to the Head of ASIC SoC within Product Engineering Unit Silicon, you'll lead a unit of verification engineers responsible for driving Top-Level Verification (TLV) across Radio and RAN Compute packaged ASICs. This is a seat at the table. You'll be an active member of the ASIC SoC Leadership Team, working in close collaboration with other sectors across Product Engineering Unit Silicon to shape how world-class silicon gets verified and shipped. We're looking for an experienced, energetic leader who knows how to build high-performing verification teams and keep them sharp, motivated, and aligned. You'll own the TLV function for some of the most complex ASIC designs on the market — and your fingerprints will be on every tapeout. This isn't a role for someone who manages from a distance. The best candidate naturally thrives on the challenge of coordinating across time zones, cultures, and disciplines, balancing diplomatic stakeholder management with the assertiveness to drive decisions and hold the line on quality.

Requirements

  • Several years leading silicon R&D teams in a product development environment
  • Proven track record managing large, distributed, multi-site engineering teams
  • Strong cultural awareness and experience operating effectively across global organizations, including the following:
  • 10+ years of physical design experience.
  • Expert in one or more of these areas – Methods to improve PPA, RTL checks and Synthesis, STA Constraints, DFT clocking architecture, Physical design of high-speed interface IPs
  • Knowledge of System Verilog or VHDL
  • Accomplished at problem resolution and execution per project plan/needs
  • Prior experience in a Senior or Lead Engineer role, including direct responsibility for guiding and mentoring junior team members and setting technical direction.
  • Highly team oriented
  • Solid understanding of core ASIC disciplines — Architecture, Design, Scalability, Technology Portability, TLV and Integration methodologies, and productization
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership — Recruit, mentor, and develop a team of ASIC Top-Level Verification engineers, creating an environment where engineers grow, stay engaged, and do their best work
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration — Work closely with other TLV sections across PEU Silicon to align methodology, share best practices, and maintain a unified verification strategy
  • Strategic Execution — Contribute actively to the ASIC SoC leadership team, helping to define and execute global strategy and hit shared milestones
  • Resource & Capability Planning — Own monthly planning cycles to ensure the right people are in the right place at the right time across all active TLV projects
  • Be empowered and tasked with improving PPA of Ericsson ASICs
  • Evaluate feasibility of architectural features through back-end implementation
  • Partner with front end design teams to address timing, power and congestion challenges
  • Deliver a synthesized netlist to ASIC BE vendor, and collaborate with vendor to address physical design tradeoffs
  • Work with DFT and architecture teams to develop timing constraints
  • Provide technical leadership and direction for junior members of the team
  • Participate in defining flows, methods and drive continuous improvement
