About The Position

Jeff Wyler Hyundai of Fairfield is "Now Hiring" ASE Certified Technicians! Automotive Technician - Summary Looking for a positive, detailed oriented, great communicator able to diagnose, repair, and perform maintenance services on automobiles to join our team. Full time position with flexible hour options of 5-8s or 4-10s (days-hours) Newly rebuilt shop with all new equipment, well lit, heated and air conditioned with large overhead fans to move air. Pay $80k – 130k per year depending on production and skills

Requirements

  • Automotive and engine repair experience or auto mechanic training preferred.
  • ASE certifications are required.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance and provide friendly customer service.
  • Must read, interpret, and transcribe data to maintain accurate records.
  • Perform routine maintenance and other tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • May lift objects that weigh as much as 50 lbs.
  • Experience as a lube technician or prepared to do on-the-job training.
  • Understanding of automotive air-conditioning systems.
  • Ability to use diagnostic equipment.
  • Experience with heavy equipment and as a diesel mechanic, diesel engine knowledge, or prepared to do on-the-job training.
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • All applicants must demonstrate the ability to pass pre-employment testing, including a background check, MVR, and drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy, by the dealership and factory standards.
  • Follow TSBs and Manufacturer warrant procedures and protocol.
  • Complete factory training classes complete Multi Point Video inspections for upsell opportunities.
  • Diagnoses the cause of most malfunctions and performs repair.
  • Communicates with the parts department to obtain needed parts.
  • Saves and tags parts of the job if under warranty or if requested by the customer.
  • Examines assigned vehicle to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended.
  • Communicates with the service advisor immediately if additional work is needed, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time.
  • Documents all work performed and recommended on the repair order.
  • Road tests vehicles when required or refers to the test technician.
  • Participates in manufacturer-sponsored training programs, schools, and events.
  • Keeps abreast of manufacturer technical bulletins.
  • Supervises the work of any apprentice technicians as assigned.
  • Reports machinery defects or malfunctions to the supervisor.
  • Ensures that customers' cars are kept clean.
  • Notifies the service advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of the vehicle.
  • Keeps shop area neat and clean.
  • Maintains and is accountable for all dealership-owned tools and manuals.
  • Returns them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received.
  • Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc.
  • Operates all tools and equipment safely.
  • Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
