The Apple Service Engineering (ASE) team builds and provides systems and infrastructure that fuel Apple's services (such as iCloud, iTunes, Siri, and Maps). We are the foundation on which Apple's software developers build the products that our customers love. We are looking for passionate and talented Site Reliability Engineers to continue our focus in providing our customers the highest quality Apple Services experience. Requirements

  • Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to investigate complex systemic and latent reliability issues.
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with software and systems teams to implement sustainable solutions.
  • Experience automating workflows and reducing operational toil through scalable solutions.
  • Use of configuration management and deployment tools.
  • Monitoring of systems and services, optimization of performance, and resource utilization.
  • Prior on-call experience supporting large-scale, distributed systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Linux systems.
  • Familiarity with open source, vendor licensed, and internally developed tools for system configuration management, provisioning, software deployment, logging, and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Improve the reliability and performance of software systems that provide visibility into services and infrastructure.
  • Design and build the next generation of cloud and systems monitoring infrastructure.
  • Focus on automation, availability, performance, and efficiency at a global scale.
  • Dive deep into operational issues from software, systems, automation, and process perspectives.
  • Understand challenges around integrating disparate infrastructures into new facilities, processes, and procedures.
  • Own the full infrastructure stack, from device driver performance debugging to content delivery network traffic management.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams to deliver the best results for Apple.
