About The Position

SUMMARY: The Director of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational performance of the center. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining regulatory compliance, financial sustainability, and efficient day-to-day operations. The Director oversees clinical and administrative functions, develops high-performing teams, and partners with physicians and executive leadership to drive growth, quality outcomes, and a culture of accountability and excellence.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage multi-department operations through subordinate leaders in a healthcare or ambulatory surgery environment
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to effectively engage, influence, and collaborate with physicians, clinical leaders, and organizational stakeholders
  • Proven leadership in driving operational performance, quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and regulatory compliance across a surgical center
  • Advanced knowledge of ambulatory surgery center operations, perioperative workflows, and clinical best practices
  • Ability to translate organizational strategy into actionable operational plans and drive execution across teams
  • Strong management skills with experience leading teams through process improvements, growth, or organizational change
  • Ability to analyze operational trends and performance indicators to identify issues, implement solutions, and improve outcomes
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly to executive leadership, physicians, staff, and external stakeholders
  • Strong conflict resolution and relationship management skills, with the ability to navigate complex interpersonal and organizational dynamics
  • High level of accountability, professionalism, and ethical judgment in all interactions and decisions
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, remain adaptable in a fast-paced environment, and lead effectively under pressure
  • Commitment to fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and high-quality patient-centered care
  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Seven (7) years of clinical experience in the operating room
  • Three (3) years in a leadership role
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hire

Responsibilities

  • Provides strategic and operational leadership for all ASC functions
  • Oversees daily operations to ensure efficiency, patient throughput, and high-quality care
  • Leads, develops, and holds managers and staff accountable for performance and outcomes
  • Ensures appropriate staffing, workflow optimization, and resource allocation
  • Maintains a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for all patients
  • Oversees pre-operative and post-operative care processes and clinical standards
  • Ensures accurate patient assessment, care planning, and documentation
  • Supports clinical decision-making and escalates complex patient care issues as needed
  • Promotes evidence-based practice, clinical competency, and continuous staff development
  • Oversees intake, front desk, medical assistants, scheduling, and clinical departments through subordinate leaders
  • Ensures supplies and equipment are available and in proper working condition
  • Ensures compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and HIPAA requirements
  • Establishes and enforces policies, procedures, and ethical standards
  • Maintains audit readiness and oversees risk management and incident reporting
  • Leads quality improvement and patient safety initiatives to support optimal outcomes
  • Oversees resolution of patient complaints and service recovery efforts
  • Ensures proper medical record management and documentation compliance
  • Promotes patient-centered care, including education, communication, and emotional support
  • Ensures a positive patient and family experience across all phases of care
  • Partners with physicians and executive leadership to align on strategic goals and growth initiatives
  • Oversees hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations
  • Reviews and approves employee timekeeping and supports workforce management processes
  • Supports coordination of care, including pre-operative and post-operative communications
  • Ensures effective communication across departments and with patients and families
  • Builds and sustains a culture of respect, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Ensures adherence to company standards of business conduct and professional behavior
  • Perform other related tasks as needed
