About The Position

The Arts Education Supervisor oversees the execution and implementation of all arts and cultural education programs for the department. This role supervises the Arts Education Coordinators and contracted artists specializing in music, visual arts, dance, and theater. Reporting to the Deputy Director of the Cultural Affairs Department, the Arts Education Supervisor ensures the delivery of high-quality arts education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts education, Arts Administration, or a related field is required
  • Three years (3) of experience in public arts programming, arts education program management, including supervisory responsibilities. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license.
  • In-depth understanding of arts education principles across various disciplines, including music, visual arts, dance, and theater.
  • Familiarity with curriculum development and instructional methodologies.
  • Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in performance of the essential functions and learn, comprehend, and apply all City or departmental policies, practices, and procedures necessary to function effectively in the position.
  • Capacity to lead a diverse team, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and adapt to changing community needs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight to Arts Education Coordinators.
  • Assign tasks, monitor progress, and evaluate performance to ensure alignment with departmental goals.
  • Assist in designing, implementing, and assessing comprehensive arts and cultural education programs, including classes, workshops, camps, and special events.
  • Develop curricula and schedules that cater to diverse community interests.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations to assess instructional effectiveness and ensure alignment with curriculum goals.
  • Provide feedback to instructors on teaching strategies, student engagement, and best practices in arts education.
  • Organize and lead team meetings to build instructional capacity and improve teaching methodologies.
  • Identify training needs and create strategies for continuous staff improvement.
  • Foster relationships with local schools, community organizations, and arts institutions to enhance program offerings.
  • Represent the department in meetings and public forums to promote arts education initiatives.
  • Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment necessary for program execution within established budgets.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote arts education programs.
  • Create promotional materials, manage online content, and engage with the community to increase participation.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures that ensure the safety and well-being of participants and staff.
  • Stay informed about industry standards and integrate best practices into program operations.
  • Ensure that all arts education programs align with state education standards, grant requirements, and departmental policies.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for monthly reporting.
  • Analyze program effectiveness and community impact through data collection and assessments.
  • Use findings to inform program enhancements, curriculum adjustments, and strategic planning.
  • Oversee registration processes, maintain accurate records, and prepare reports on program metrics and outcomes.
  • Utilize computer systems for data management and communication.
  • Stay current with trends in arts education.
  • Provide training and support to staff to enhance program delivery.
  • Perform additional tasks as required to support the mission of the Cultural Affairs Department.
