Office Location: This position is assigned to our office located at 84th & O St, Lincoln, NE. Pay Grade 9: $69,746.51/year This rate is based upon available budget funds; any offer will be made at this rate. Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the field of education or related subject area, two years of successful preK-12 teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school, or equivalent teaching or school administration experience in another state or country, and eligible for/possess a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per §79-807.
  • NOTE: A Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per 92 NAC 21 must be possessed by the time the candidate begins employment at the Nebraska Department of Education and an active certificate maintained while in the Education Specialist position.
  • Substitution: Bachelor’s degree in education or equivalent Master of Arts in Teaching per 92 NAC 21, and four years of teaching or school administration experience in an approved or accredited Nebraska school or equivalent teaching or school administration experience in another state or country, and eligible for/possess a current Nebraska Teaching or Administrative Certificate per §79-807.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Education and five or more years of successful preK-12 experience teaching Arts as a director, specialist, coordinator, department head, or administrator in a school, ESU, or other professional organization.
  • Experience facilitating Arts education professional learning experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provides statewide leadership, content area expertise, technical assistance, and professional learning related to Arts Education (e.g., Media Arts, Visual Arts, Dance, Music, Theatre) to schools, ESUs, and postsecondary institutions.
  • Facilitates the review and revision process for Nebraska Arts Education Standards.
  • Provides support related to content area standards implementation, assessment of learning, professional learning, and instructional resources.
  • Develops and delivers professional learning experiences and provides resources related to Arts Education.
  • Provides guidance and recommendations on selecting and implementing high quality, standards-based instructional resources including curriculum and digital, open educational, and assessment resources.
  • Establishes and fosters strategic partnerships with other state agencies, nonprofit organizations, postsecondary education institutions, and business and industry partners.
  • Participates in cross functional projects and initiatives (e.g., planning, priorities, reports, resources) of the Office of Teaching, Learning, & Assessment; assists with integrating information with other Nebraska Department of Education offices and priorities.
  • Maintains regular & reliable attendance, possesses a valid driver’s license and travels independently, and works in a variety of settings.
