About The Position

The Arts and Programs Associate will help manage and coordinate all The Latinx Project's (TLP) events and public humanities programming (from panels to art exhibitions to fellowships) in consultation with The Latinx Project (TLP) team. Liaise with artists, curators, academics, and invited collaborators to ensure the smooth execution of programs. Assist in the selection of curators and artists-in-residence and public humanities fellows. Provide administrative support with the application of NYU administrative systems, focusing on events and programming as well as grant reporting related to programs and exhibitions. Develop and maintain an active presence for TLP events through The Latinx Project website, social media, newsletter and other communications channels.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3+ years experience with events/arts and arts and cultural programming
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent demonstrated written, proofreading, and research skills
  • Knowledge of the Latinx Studies academic field, art, culture, or history

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in humanities or arts fields preferred
  • Master's Degree in public humanities, arts, visual culture, Latinx Studies or related fields
  • Advanced working knowledge of various social media platforms (i.e. Instagram, Zoom, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator
  • Working knowledge of Squarespace and Mailchimp
  • Experience supporting visual art exhibitions, including editing and writing artwork labels and public-facing texts; managing logistics related to framing, artwork shipping and installation organization; answering questions about exhibitions and leading guided tours; and corresponding with artists and curators.
