About The Position

Arts and Crafts Summer Camp Counselors are responsible for the daily operations of camp, including implementing lesson plans and ensuring the safety and supervision of an assigned group of children. In this role, counselors specialize in arts and crafts, designing and leading creative projects that promote self-expression, teamwork, and hands-on learning. This is a part time, seasonal position, with training beginning in late May.
NOTE: Because this position will involve routine interaction with children, all candidates must successfully obtain the following clearances PRIOR to beginning employment:
PA State Police criminal history record,
PA Child Abuse Clearance, and
FBI Fingerprint-based criminal history clearance.

Requirements

• PA Child Abuse Clearance and FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Clearance: Must be dated within the past 5 years and specifically for employment (not volunteer).
• NOTE: If you do not have already these clearances, you will be provided with instructions when an offer of employment is made. Results can take up to 4-6 weeks. Both clearances must be presented before employment can begin.
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children in recreational or instructional setting
• Must have dependable transportation to and from work
• Interactive and engaging with children of all ages and personalities
• Must be artistic and creative, with a strong passion for arts and crafts
• Must have ideas and the ability to plan and lead engaging craft and art activities
• Dependable transportation to and from work
• Language skills: Fluent knowledge of the English language; including the ability to read and interpret written information and speak and understand verbal communication
• Ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the position with any reasonable accommodations as necessary
• Authorized to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and lead daily arts and crafts activities that engage campers and encourage creativity.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and inspiring arts and crafts area for campers.
• Provide consistent supervision of campers, focusing on safety at all times. This includes adhering to Child Abuse Prevention procedures, sign in/out policy, completing incident reports, and monitoring attendance.
• Greet and welcome parents and children in a warm, friendly, and timely manner.
• Initiative, develop, and maintain personalized relationships with parents and their children.
• Professionally and promptly handle parent concerns, complaints, and inquiries.
• Resolve child conflicts in a prompt and professional manner.
• Engage and interact with children of all ages and personalities.
• All other duties as assigned
