Artists-in-residence are expected to produce research or creative scholarship on campus; interact with students and faculty through workshops, critiques, and/or guest lectures; and contribute to departmental culture. The selected candidate gains access to facilities including studios, libraries, archives, and galleries and may choose to work at Selu, Radford’s 380-acre nature conservancy with retreat center, observatory, classrooms, and labs. Other responsibilities and resources may be arranged to fit the selected candidate’s skillset and aspirations. If selected to also teach, adjunct instructors can contribute to one or more of the department’s four programs: studio art, graphic design, art education, and art history and museum studies. Possible teaching choices include: professional practices, foundations, art appreciation, or special topics. Other opportunities may exist, depending on the department’s scheduling and the candidate’s skillset.
