About The Position

GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking a Machine Learning (ML) Vision Engineer to work in a hybrid capacity, with 3-4 days on-site per month in Harrisburg, PA. As a Machine Learning Vision Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and integrating cutting-edge OCR and computer vision solutions into high-throughput, real-time image processing workflows.

Requirements

  • Strong professional experience with Python (must be clearly demonstrated in resume).
  • Solid background in software engineering, including OOP, design patterns, clean code principles, and testable architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  • Experience with computer vision and image processing frameworks such as OpenCV or Pillow.
  • Practical experience with OCR tools and technologies (e.g., Tesseract, PaddleOCR, EasyOCR, or custom solutions).
  • Familiarity with object detection models such as YOLO, Faster R-CNN, or SSD.
  • Knowledge of classification techniques, feature extraction, and evaluation metrics for vision tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 tools including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using Microsoft Azure DevOps (ADO) Testing Module.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be accepted.

  • Knowledge of ITIL or ITSM methodologies and best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize machine learning-based computer vision components, including object detection, image classification, and image quality assessment models.
  • Develop OCR pipelines using both third-party and in-house engines.
  • Write robust, production-ready Python code using strong object-oriented design principles.
  • Integrate ML components into a distributed, message-driven system architecture in collaboration with system architects.
  • Build scalable frameworks and production systems beyond proof-of-concept notebooks.
  • Implement training, evaluation, and feedback loops for OCR and image classification models.
  • Optimize model performance to support real-time transaction processing with high throughput and low latency.
  • Participate in system-level design discussions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and adaptability.
  • Collaborate with API, database, and DevOps teams to support deployment and testing efforts.
  • Fully document all technical work, including designs, test plans, impact analyses, and lessons learned, using standard templates.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, sponsors, vendors, and clients.
  • Participate in and lead project activities related to enterprise systems.
  • Work independently to complete assigned tasks.
  • Follow all established PTC standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Use various software tools and platforms to support job functions.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the PTC.
