About The Position

The Entry Mechanical Engineer position at Amentum involves providing technical engineering direction and support for NASA's ground systems capabilities and launch operations at Kennedy Space Center. The role is focused on assisting in the design, development, and management of mechanical systems for space missions, particularly in support of the Artemis program aimed at returning humans to the Moon and Mars. This entry-level position requires collaboration with various teams and stakeholders to ensure project completion within budget and schedule while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) in Engineering or technical equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to interface with customer Engineers and test Team representatives and manage task completion to customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to read schematics, drawings, and specifications and communicate effectively with the Test Team.
  • Ability to write detailed technical work instructions for execution.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, proficient in report writing and technical presentations.
  • Experience working as a member of a formal team.
  • Understanding of hardware configurations and processes.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and general guidance, motivated to learn and execute.
  • In-depth computer experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, and Outlook.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical engineering direction for the Mechanical Engineering Department, including technical procedure development and operational support.
  • Participate in conceptual design ideas and revisions to existing designs and modifications to existing structures or Ground Support Equipment (GSE).
  • Prepare essential system engineering documentation components required for a complete and viable system.
  • Plan, develop costs, manage, and schedule assigned projects.
  • Interface with client representatives and manage task completion on schedule and within budget.
  • Oversee systems activations to validate compliance with contract documents.
  • Ensure systems operate safely and comply with all federal, state, and local codes/regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
