Responsibilities required of incumbent include, but are not limited to, developing and presenting treatment methods that will be appropriate and will contribute to the treatment of the patient, and adapting intervention to meet individual needs while conducting intervention in a group format.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in art therapy from a program approved by the Education Committee of the American Art Therapy Association or accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP).
  • Art therapist registration (ATR) by the Art Therapy Credentials Board within three years of full time employment.
  • Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system to be obtained within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Art Therapist Registration (ATR) or Board Certified Art Therapist (ATR-BC)
  • Two years of related experience.
  • Basic Life Support Health Care Provider Card through American Heart Association or obtain within one month of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Use art therapy interventions to treat patients according to individualized treatment plan.
  • Provides safe and appropriate specialized programs.
  • Assesses patients and establishes treatment goals.
  • Develops and implements treatment programs to meet the goals of treatment services and patient needs.
  • Evaluates therapy results and modifies treatment plans accordingly.
  • Develops discharge plans in collaboration with patient, family and treatment team members.
  • Participates as an active member of the treatment team.
  • Participates in the department and service delivery unit's quality improvement programs.
  • Evaluates and assists in procurement of needed resources.
  • May assist in orientation, supervision and professional development of new staff and art therapy interns.
  • Program changes are recommended to the Program Director and/or the Manager of Expressive Therapies and implemented only after obtaining proper authorization and/or consent from supervisors.
