The Art Program Leader - Museum Operations is a part-time, temporary position responsible for supporting the operations of the City of Lancaster's arts and museum facilities. This role involves customer service, processing donations and sales, assisting with exhibitions, and maintaining the museums' facilities. The Art Program Leader will work approximately 18 hours per week and must be available for a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.

  • Direct, greet, and provide information regarding exhibits, activities, and events to guests.
  • Answer incoming calls and forward messages to appropriate personnel.
  • Process donations and conduct sale transactions, ensuring proper cash handling procedures.
  • Docent and maintain galleries in a clean and presentable condition.
  • Prepare gallery walls for installation, including patching, painting, and cleaning.
  • Safely handle a variety of artwork and install based on layouts designed by curators or artists.
  • Adjust lighting for exhibitions and prepare gallery signage and labels.
  • Load and unload artworks, ensuring safe handling techniques are practiced.
  • Set up, staff, and tear down events and rentals.
  • Oversee and maintain supplies, tools, and equipment inventories.
  • Ability to organize and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Good writing, typing, speaking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of or interest in visual arts and history is preferred.
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university majoring in Arts or a related field is desirable.
