About The Position

Art Instructor (Delridge Community Center) About Associated Recreation Council (ARC) Associated Recreation Council (ARC) partners with Seattle Parks and Recreation to provide high-quality recreation, enrichment, and lifelong learning programs for people of all ages. ARC is committed to creating inclusive, engaging, and safe programs that strengthen our community. Position Summary ARC–Delridge is seeking a creative, dependable Art Instructor to teach community art classes. This position offers opportunities to work with seniors, parent/tot participants, and summer camp-aged children. Instructors may teach one or more program types based on experience, interest, and availability. Candidates with experience across multiple age groups are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a year-round, part-time position with the potential for additional hours during summer programming. Employment Type: Part-time, year-round Desired Start Date: April 6, 2026Work Schedule: TBD Program Options & Teaching Opportunities Senior Art Classes Lead relaxed, accessible art classes designed for older adults Adapt projects to accommodate varying skill levels and physical abilities Foster creativity, social connection, and enjoyment through art Parent/Tot Art Classes Facilitate caregiver-and-child art experiences for toddlers and young children Design simple, sensory-friendly, age-appropriate art activities Support positive interaction between caregivers and children in a welcoming environment Summer Art Camps Teach art camps during summer months for school-aged children Full or half-day camp schedules may be available Increased hours possible during summer weeks

Requirements

  • Experience teaching art in a recreational, educational, or community setting
  • Experience working with seniors and/or young children (parent/tot)
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills
  • Ability to work independently and reliably
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching both senior and parent/tot classes
  • Background in art education, early childhood education, recreation, or a related field
  • Experience teaching summer camps or extended programs
  • Comfortable adapting lessons for diverse age groups and abilities

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead engaging, age-appropriate art activities based on assigned program type(s)
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
  • Prepare lesson plans, materials, and classroom setup/cleanup
  • Adapt instruction to meet participant needs and abilities
  • Communicate professionally with ARC staff, site supervisors, and participants/caregivers
  • Follow ARC and Seattle Parks and Recreation policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
