About The Position

About the Role Shaw/Scott is seeking a freelance Art Director to own the creative development and execution of lifecycle marketing campaigns and digital assets for our global clients. Email design is the core of this role–from concept through production, you'll be responsible for crafting visually stunning, on-brand experiences that perform across every inbox. Beyond execution, this role is about storytelling and creative craft that drives engagement, performance, and brand excellence. As an experienced member of our Creative team, you'll work independently to deliver conceptually strong campaigns across the lifecycle marketing ecosystem. You'll bring a deep understanding of visual communication, brand storytelling, and digital UX/UI, ensuring every creative solution aligns with business objectives and pushes creative boundaries. This position is ideal for a self-directed creative who is passionate about combining artistry with strategic impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in art direction or digital design, preferably within an agency or fast-paced creative environment
  • Proven ability to manage creative projects independently from concept to completion
  • Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in email design, digital campaigns, and multi-channel brand storytelling
  • Expert proficiency in Figma, including significant hands-on experience building and maintaining design systems — component libraries, template architecture, and scalable file organization
  • Deep understanding of UI/UX principles, responsive design, and accessibility best practices
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills — able to clearly articulate creative decisions to both internal and external stakeholders
  • A passion for creative innovation, visual strategy, and data-informed design
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities independently

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS and dynamic content personalization for email
  • Experience with motion design or video for digital storytelling

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Concepting – Translate client strategies into compelling creative concepts and experiences that connect with audiences and drive measurable results
  • Design Excellence – Own the design of responsive emails, landing pages, and digital assets that balance aesthetics, performance, and accessibility
  • Design Systems – Build, manage, and evolve scalable design systems in Figma, establishing reusable components, templates, and standards that drive consistency and production efficiency across client programs.
  • Client Collaboration – Partner with internal stakeholders and client teams to present creative rationale, articulate design thinking, and advocate for innovative solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership – Work closely with strategists, writers, developers, and campaign specialists to ensure seamless execution and alignment with marketing goals.
  • Quality Assurance – Maintain pixel-perfect standards and ensure all creative deliverables meet brand and technical specifications.
