About The Position

Join a compassionate and collaborative team providing essential Primary Care services to patients in a psychiatric inpatient setting. This unique role offers flexibility and the opportunity to deliver high-quality care to individuals who otherwise may not have access to primary care. What You’ll Do: Deliver in-person Primary Care services in a freestanding inpatient psychiatric hospital during business hours. Manage an average of 1-2 new admissions per day and 3-4 acute visits daily. Conduct basic procedures such as suture removal and wound care. Collaborate with an established team of psychiatric providers, social workers, nurses, and mental health specialists. What You’ll Get: Flexible schedule with no after-hours or overnight call. Requirements

  • Active licensure as a PA-C, or ARNP
  • Strong interest in serving patients with psychiatric conditions
  • Washington State ARNP license
  • DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority
  • Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association
  • Experience providing medical care in family practice, geriatric, and young adult populations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in primary care, internal medicine, family medicine or psychiatry preferred
  • Preferred experience working with mentally ill populations
  • Familiarity with rules, regulations, and professional standards governing the treatment of mentally ill clients
  • Interest and ability to provide care for a chronic population with multiple medical and psychiatric problems

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine H&Ps for every new admission.
  • Assess and manage medical conditions, including acute complaints and chronic illnesses.
  • Complete Treatment Plan goals for medical care as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Consult with psychiatric providers regarding co-occurring psychiatric and medical conditions.
  • Prescribe, monitor, and evaluate results of prescribed medications.
  • Order and interpret laboratory tests as required for medical care.
  • Provide substance withdrawal management as needed.
  • Accurately and appropriately document medical care provided.
  • Implement antimicrobial stewardship practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
