Job Summary The Physician Assistant (PA) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) in Primary Care provides comprehensive, patient-centered medical care to individuals of all ages. This role involves diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, promoting preventive healthcare, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality, evidence-based care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing or Doctorate in Nursing Practice. OR Master’s degree in Physician Assistant studies or Doctorate in Physician Assistant studies
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience as an ARNP, or PA highly preferred.
  • Active and unrestricted Washington State License as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner
  • Active and unrestricted Washington State License as Registered Nurse OR Active and unrestricted Washington State License as a Physician Assistant
  • Active WA DEA
  • Active Basic Life Support (BLS) or (ACLS) Certification
  • Ability to problem solve in real time, using resources and knowledge to optimize patient outcomes.
  • Ability to diagnose, develop treatment plans, and treat patients across a broad spectrum of medical diagnoses.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of pharmacotherapy when appropriate in the development of treatment plans.
  • Proficient in the use of current technology and computers; ability to learn and effectively use new programs and equipment.
  • Professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to identify and employ communication strategies appropriate to the audience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides comprehensive care for Primary Care patients in an ambulatory environment.
  • Performs evaluations, discusses goals with patients, implements care plans, prescribes medications, educates patients about risks and benefits, and monitor’s progress.
  • Works closely with other members of patient care team in the formulation of the total care plan for patients.
  • Works in all primary care and/or outpatient settings as needed, providing access for patients of primary care or outpatient providers who are unavailable to care for their own patients (due to vacation, CME, illness, FMLA, lack of schedule openings, etc.).
  • Provides general in-basket coverage for providers who are away and provides urgent message coverage for providers who are not in that day (including day off).
  • Location of work to be determined by clinic leadership team, prioritizing areas of most need on any given day.
  • Identifies, evaluates and addresses disease prevention and health promotion issues of the population in the practice while administering quality patient care.
  • Obtains appropriate medical history and physical data on patients.
  • Performs appropriate physical exam and records findings.
  • Meets or exceeds quality care standards, achieves clinical excellence, contributes to quality improvement, and strives for high patient satisfaction.
  • Participates actively in the quality improvement system, complies with all appropriate Washington State Department of Health standards, National Patient Safety goals, and other quality improvement projects.
  • Maintains appropriate, accurate and timely records using a computerized record keeping and coding system.
  • Uses voice recognition and related technology, with appropriate consent from patient/guardian.
  • Works closely with other departments in patient care as needed.
  • Maintains professional skills through research and training/continuing education opportunities.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary meetings and huddles; stays abreast of trends and best practices.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements and federal, state and local laws.
  • Maintains flexibility as a key job function with respect to day-to-day work location and patient population
  • Participate in the resolution of patient and provider complaints and enhancement of patient and provider satisfaction as measured by regular surveys.
  • Participate in community outreach activities at the request of District and as mutually agreed by the parties.
  • Complete and maintain adequate and proper medical records with respect to all patients examined or treated in accordance with all applicable legal, accreditation and third-party payor standards within such time limits as are required by Hospital or its Medical Staff bylaws, rules and regulations.
  • Practitioner is subject to any fines and/or other penalties pertaining to delinquent medical records pursuant to Hospital’s Medical Staff Bylaws.
  • Supervision of students, residents, nurse practitioners and physician assistants
  • Perform such other services as are mutually agreed by the parties.
