About The Position

The Army ROTC Instructor at the University of West Florida is responsible for delivering military science instruction and training in various settings, including indoor classrooms and outdoor field environments. The role involves preparing cadets for military tasks, coaching competitive teams, and participating in summer training exercises. The instructor must demonstrate effective teaching abilities and possess a thorough understanding of military training and organizational structure.

Requirements

  • Must have been a Soldier within the U.S Army, Active Component, or a former/current Soldier in the U.S Army Reserve or Army National Guard.
  • Minimum six (6) years of prior Active or Reserve Component military experience, with some positions allowing a minimum of four (4) years.
  • Experience must be current (within the last five years) and terminated with an honorable discharge or retirement.
  • Meet the academic institution's qualifications for instructor positions.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of the Army organizational structure and mission objectives.
  • Knowledge and experience in military training and field training evaluations.
  • Knowledge of basic Soldier skills, including map reading, land navigation, and marksmanship.
  • Knowledge of safety skills in the use of small arms and ammunition.
  • Computer skills, including operation of Microsoft Office and familiarity with email and internet operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide military science instruction and training in accordance with Cadet Command's program of Instruction (POI).
  • Utilize mixed media and innovative teaching methods to achieve learning objectives.
  • Ensure students are tested and can apply theory in practice during training events.
  • Provide expert training in Warrior Tasks, Battle Drills, small unit tactics, and physical fitness.
  • Coach and prepare competitive Cadet teams for events such as ranger challenge and drill team.
  • Instruct Cadets on leader-led/officer-to-NCO relationships in various environments.
  • Participate in Cadet Summer Training (CST) for approximately 30-45 days at Fort Knox, KY.
  • Transport ROTC personnel and materials for training exercises and events.
