About The Position

Serve as the Army Instructor at a rural public high school with a total student population of approximately 700 students and a Corps of Cadets numbering between 80 and 100 cadets. Teach first-year cadets of all grade levels the LET-1 subjects of JROTC foundations, basic leadership, individual drill, care and wear of the uniform, and personal skills (self-awareness, verbal communication, managing anger, controlling stress and resolving interpersonal conflicts). Teach second-year cadets the LET-2 subjects of squad drill, team and squad leader responsibilities, health, nutrition and physical exercise. Teach cadets of all grade levels the supplementary subjects of First Aid, Land Navigation and Air Rifle Marksmanship. Mentor cadets in personal conduct, making good decisions, and leading effectively. Share responsibilities with the Senior Army Instructor regarding coaching and managing the JROTC Raider, Marksmanship, Color Guard, Drill and Academic teams. Supervise the teams at performances and competitions (approximately 30 events per year split between the two instructors). Some events will require local travel. Manage the JROTC supply account. Coordinate with local ROTC, Army Reserve, National Guard and civic organizations. Perform other duties as assigned by the high school principal such as monitoring students before, during and/after school each school day, and with periodically helping control after-school extracurricular events (selling tickets, monitoring exits, etc.). Represent the military well and provide a positive adult role model for the student body.

Responsibilities

  • Represent the military well and provide a positive adult role model
