About The Position

BAE Systems, one of the world's leading defense contractors and a stable Fortune 500 company, is hiring a uniquely qualified Tracked Vehicle Mechanic/Master Gunner to work as prototype assembler on our newest 30mm & turreted combat vehicle systems. The Prototype Assembler responsibilities include: Repairing & operating military track vehicles. Operate & repair Armored Vehicle Weapons Systems such as (30mm, Bushmaster, CROWS, 120mm Mortar, IBAS, Various Machine Guns & Sensors) Experience with standard machine shop equipment & mechnics tooling. Systems Assembly & Integration that includes sub-component fabrication, inspection, test, vehicle maintenance, trouble shooting and field support tasks conducted by Sterling Heights Prototype shop personnel. Position provides direct support to design engineering through the entire product development life cycle Works from and reads engineering drawings, sketches, samples and verbal instructions. Must have knowledge & use of military Technical Manuals (TMs, PMCS Systems and Weapons Systems documents) Performs layout of vehicle repairs in depth from blueprint reading capability and hand book or technical manual data. Uses hand tools and hand power tools. Receives assistance and guidance only on the most complicated work. Selects all tools and materials necessary and sets up and operates all prototype shop equipment necessary to complete tasks, and performs all necessary maintenance on equipment with minimal supervision. Notes and reports variances or discrepancies in drawings or work by reporting them to the supervisor or appropriate person(s). Operates all existing product line and experimental vehicles both on site and at field locations. Operates forklift, overhead cranes, jib cranes and hoists. Full attention is given to the prevention of personal injury and prevention of injury to others.

Requirements

  • US military Tracked Vehicle Crewmember/mechanic MOS with 8 years of Experience (Requirement for Interview)
  • High School Diploma with college level work experience.
  • US Army Master Gunner Course certified (Requirement for Interview).
  • Certified of 30mm Turreted Systems (Requirement for Interview).
  • Certified on CROWS Weapons & Integration Sensor Systems (Requirement for Interview).
  • Technical skills in the performance & maintenance of Bradley. AMPV & other Armored Vehicle Systems. (Requirement for Interview)
  • Bradley Armored Vehicle driving experience as well as other military tracked & wheeled ground combat vehicles or other heavy military equipment. (Requirement for Interview)
  • Application of overall mechanical, some electrical and trouble shooting knowledge.
  • Comprehensive knowledge to manufacture, assemble, inspect and repair as appropriate.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working on military tracked or wheeled military vehicles (Requirement for Interview).
  • Heavy diesel engine mechanics & troubleshooting experience on military tracked vehicle mechanic/crew member MOS (Military Occupational Specialty).
  • Previously held Army MOS of: 91M - Bradley Fighting Vehicle Maintainer, 91H - Track Vehicle Repairer, or, 91P - Artillery Mechanic. Or, Military Tracked Vehicle/FSR experience on AMPV, BFV, or M88A2
  • Previously held USMC MOS of: 2146 - Main Battle Tank Repairer/Technician, 2147 - Light Armored Vehicle Repairer, 2141 - Assault Amphibious Vehicle Repairer
  • US Army Master Gunner Skill Designator (Required for Interview)
  • Firing and Repair of 30mm Gun Systems.
  • Firing and Repair of CROWS Systems.
  • Bradley (BFV) Range & Weapons Firing Experience.

Responsibilities
