About The Position

The Armed Transportation Officer is responsible for the safe and secure transport of detainees, ensuring their care and custody while maintaining order and discipline in accordance with established regulations. This role involves performing security checks, managing detainee behavior, and operating within a detention facility environment. The officer must also carry authorized weapons and ensure all equipment is maintained and functional, while adhering to safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • One year of Military, Security, Law Enforcement, or Corrections experience.
  • US citizen or a person lawfully admitted into the United States for permanent residence and have resided in the U.S. for the last five years.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Pass a criminal background and consumer credit check (no criminal record).
  • Obtain and maintain a DHS/ICE government clearance.
  • Pass all pre-employment and random drug tests.
  • Pass a medical examination and meet health requirements.
  • At least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license or CDL if transporting over 16 passengers.
  • Possess a valid armed security G license from the state of Florida.
  • Ability to obtain a state security guard D license from the state of Florida.
  • Maintain current/physical residency in the continental United States.
  • Strictly maintain physical fitness standards for law enforcement and CDL requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, escort, and transport of detainees as required by the contract.
  • Exercise surveillance and control over detainees, maintaining order and discipline.
  • Enforce rules and regulations of the detention facility.
  • Provide care, custody, and control of detainees.
  • Remove detainees from holding areas using proper restraints and security measures.
  • Guard detainees at deportation or exclusion hearings, during transport, and while receiving medical care.
  • Inspect, maintain, and care for authorized equipment, including firearms and restraints.
  • Requalify with weapon quarterly.
  • Make official entries in transportation and processing logbooks that are legible and complete.
  • Conduct security and sanitation checks of the area prior to relieving the outgoing officer.
  • Perform complete vehicle inspections prior to and following every transportation route.
  • Inventory all equipment and notate the results in the logbook.
  • Ensure communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery.
  • Augment staff as needed in the Krome Service Processing Center operations.
  • Attend to housing, feeding, and the physical well-being of detainees, 24 hours a day.
  • Perform all work duties and activities in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
  • Complete all training and job requirements.
  • Follow company-wide safety policies and practices.
