The Armed Security Officer (ASO) is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) facilities and personnel. This role requires compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while performing duties as an armed officer. The ASO will be the first responder to emergencies, enforce federal and assimilated state laws, and conduct mobile patrols, inspections, and searches. The officer will also be involved in traffic enforcement and investigations, initiate detentions, and transport individuals as necessary. Protective service work includes guarding FLETC-owned or leased buildings and property, protecting FLETC equipment and materials, and controlling access to installations by employees, visitors, and residents. The ASO is expected to carry a sidearm, shotgun, or other weapons as required, and must adhere to all company personnel and safety policies while performing duties in a safe manner. In addition to the primary responsibilities, the ASO will participate in Guard Mount, receive assigned posts, and follow any extra instructions provided. Communication is key, as the officer will need to interact with the public and government personnel, providing access and traffic control while conducting both walking and motorized armed security functions. The ASO is also responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of their uniform and equipment, following standard operating procedures, and conducting thorough checks of personnel, vehicles, buildings, and facilities, including package and parcel inspections. Flexibility in working hours is essential, as the ASO may be required to work weekends and holidays as needed. Other duties may be assigned as necessary to ensure the safety and security of the FLETC environment.
