Primary Purpose: To provide professional security oversight of the hospital and grounds by protecting persons and property in accordance with state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards while promoting the Cass Regional mission statement. Formal Policy-Setting Responsibilities: Formally responsible for making recommendations regarding policies associated with the job's purpose and essential responsibilities. Decision Making: The ability to confidently assess all available information, both known or reasonably available, in order to identify risks when dealing with combative patients; ability to know how and when to confront family members who are being hostile or argumentative with staff. Formal Supervisory Responsibility: No formal supervisory responsibility. Required Knowledge: Must be able to obtain a private officer commission in the City of Harrisonville, which includes shooting a qualifying score from a certified firearms instructor. Required Skills and Ability: The ability to communicate in a professional manner both verbally and in writing; be proficient with computer and surveillance programs; be able to work well with individuals under stressful conditions; understand fire safety principles and the ability to direct others during an emergency in a professional manner. Unusual Working Conditions: Must be able to traverse all types of terrain in all types of weather and will assist in the restraint and control of combative patients or suspects. Due to the nature of the position (responding to various situations) there is a risk of “potential exposure to hazardous drugs and chemicals.” Education and Certification/ Registration required for the Position: High school diploma or equivalent. QualificationsMaintain firearms and Taser certification.
