About The Position
The Armed Security Officer at the Port of Alaska plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of the work site, personnel, and assets. Under the limited supervision of the Security Captain, the officer is responsible for protecting against various threats including assault, theft, vandalism, harassment, and other disruptive incidents. This position operates on a rotational schedule of two weeks on and two weeks off, with a demanding work schedule of 12 hours per day. The officer must be vigilant and prepared to respond to emergencies, conduct visual surveillance, and enforce security protocols effectively. In this role, the officer will control access to the work site, perform security patrols, and respond to alarms and suspicious activities. The responsibilities also include maintaining communication through radio and telephone, enforcing policies, and making arrests when necessary. The officer must be proficient in the use of firearms and capable of performing searches of individuals and vehicles, as well as conducting rescue operations during emergencies. Clear communication skills are essential for mediating disputes and de-escalating potentially volatile situations. The position requires a high level of physical fitness and the ability to operate a motor vehicle in various conditions, including urban and rural settings. The officer must maintain composure in high-stress situations and be prepared to document investigations accurately. This role is vital for maintaining a secure environment at the Port of Alaska, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and protecting the interests of the organization.
