About The Position

The Dyslexia Specialist at Arkansas Connections Academy is responsible for managing instructional programs for students with dyslexia or related disorders. This role involves collaborating with reading/language arts teachers, providing virtual instruction, and ensuring compliance with state regulations and district guidelines. The specialist will work closely with students, parents, and teachers to support the educational needs of students identified with dyslexia, utilizing technology and various curriculum tools to facilitate learning.

Requirements

  • Degree in Education
  • A valid teacher certification in Arkansas
  • Experience working with students with Dyslexia and/or Dyslexia intervention experience
  • Experience in Arkansas Dyslexia Handbook policies and guidelines
  • Strong technology skills (especially with Microsoft Office products and Google Suite)
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Highly organized and punctual
  • Customer focused approach
  • High degree of flexibility
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player track record
  • Willingness to travel for marketing and state testing events (may require occasional overnight travel)
  • Ability to work some occasional evening hours, as needed to support some families
  • Ability to work remotely

Responsibilities

  • Manage and provide instructional guidance, virtual teaching and general strategies for a caseload of students.
  • Develop, write and ensure the implementation of Dyslexia and/or 504 plans.
  • Evaluate tests and assessments, complete progress reports and conduct parent conferences.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/learning coaches of students who have been identified with Dyslexia or related disorders.
  • Consult with teachers and coordinate the implementation of specially designed instruction for students identified with Dyslexia or related disorders.
  • Provide direct services to students including services delivered through web-conferencing software, as needed.
  • Schedule, organize and conduct 504 meetings in a virtual environment, as needed.
  • Participate in the school's Student Support Team and help teachers and learning coaches develop and implement program modifications and strategies for all students.
  • Assist with the organization and proper implementation of all paperwork, documentation and procedures for the Dyslexia process.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date data in the school's Learning Management System and Dyslexia and 504 software.
  • Assist with administering state testing and coordinate the special adaptations required based on the Dyslexia documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
