The Area VP, Sales will lead a high-performing regional sales organization in a fast-paced, competitive biotech environment. This role offers the opportunity to drive growth in a specialty market, shaping strategy and execution for a transformative therapy. You will inspire, develop, and manage a team of field leaders while ensuring compliance, operational excellence, and a strong focus on customer and patient outcomes.   • Lead approximately half of the U.S. sales organization, driving sales of a targeted therapy in a highly specialized disease area.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive sales strategies and go-to-market plans.
  • Analyze area/regional performance data to optimize sales approaches and exceed targets.
  • Mentor and develop first-line leaders to ensure regional teams achieve results while maintaining compliance and ethical practices.
  • Partner on key account management, building and maintaining relationships with national and regional healthcare leaders.
  • Drive a high-performance culture by setting aspirational goals, motivating teams, and fostering accountability.
  • Ensure field execution is supported with robust systems, processes, and KPI tracking.
  • Serve on committees for incentive compensation planning, promoting a compliant, performance-driven culture.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of commercial experience in biotech or pharma, including at least 10 years in sales or related functions.
  • 7+ years of experience leading field teams, preferably in specialty or rare disease markets.
  • Proven ability to operate in high-growth, competitive environments.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively across functions including marketing, market access, and commercial operations.
