About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Head Start / Early Head Start (HS/EHS) Assistant Director, the Area Supervisor provides leadership and direction for the daily operations and activities of a designated program area; responsible for effective programmatic operations, evaluation and improvement of respective program area, facilities, classrooms and teachers in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards as well as State and local licensing standards; performs community relations, conflict resolution and immediately notifies Assistant HS/EHS Director of such; completes special projects as required; and may serve as the HS/EHS Center Director in his/her absence

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree (preferred) or associate’s degree (required) in early childhood education or other related field with experience in teaching, program administration and evaluation.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience in supervision and administering early childhood or adolescent programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, problem solving, interpersonal and analytical skills required.
  • Knowledge and development of community resources, methods and practices of health and safety precautions, and providing structure for children and youth.
  • Computer literate.
  • Must be computer literate and have accurate typing skills as well as the ability to operate a variety of office equipment
  • Community resources, methods and practices of health and safety precautions, providing age-appropriate education services and facilitating family involvement in program services
  • Ability to comply with Head Start Performance Standards
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and tuberculosis test. A Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation background check is required. Must be found to be free from any physical, mental or emotional conditions, determined by a qualified physician and/or psychologist, which with or without accommodation might affect the ability of the employee to perform essential job functions. The position may require prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. Additionally, the position requires lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling up to 50lbs.
