Under the supervision of the WCA Director the WCA Area Supervisor at the YMCA of Central Massachusetts will assist with the responsibility for all components of the city beaches and pool while maintaining a supportive, positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals. Every effort will be made to operate a first-rate Aquatic Program which will focus on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Area Supervisor will assist with the operation of the facility, coach staff, and manage administrative duties and record-keeping. This is a summer seasonal position with a start date of June 15th going through August 23rd. Shifts will be between the hours of 9:30am to 7:30pm Sunday-Saturday. Please let us know your availability when filling out your application! ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensures that the highest aquatic standards are constantly maintained. Assumes a lead role during shift and directly carries out leadership responsibilities to effectively oversee, train, guide, and evaluate staff (attendance, rotations, safety rule enforcement, etc.) Serves as a role model and resource for staff and maintains professional communication and behavior at all times. Proficient in all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Communicates with the Director about any concerns regarding safety, staff, or the public. Engages in positive public relations with patrons and models for other staff. Conducts regular safety inspections of aquatic facilities and environment. Ensures appropriate staff coverage for all operating hours; monitors all instructor/lifeguard scheduling & substitutions; cover open shifts if necessary. Rotates during shifts if necessary. Assists with in-service training of staff on a regular basis to ensure the highest standards of safety and Risk Management. Conducted 4 times during the season. Ensures clear, concise and consistent information is communicated to staff and the public. Responsible for the management of the assigned facility or facilities (record-keeping, logbooks, incident reports, testing, city/state compliance, and payroll as assigned). Rotate between 5 locations as needed. Assumes responsibility for the physical upkeep of the aquatic facility and environment. Documents and notifies Director of incidents/accidents, member questions/concerns, damaged equipment, supply needs, etc. Maintains certifications listed under Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations. Receives and carries out instructions. Maintains a professional appearance at all times; wear clothing that meets the YMCA dress code. Other duties as assigned.
