Position Summary The Area Superintendent provides leadership and operational oversight for multiple electrical construction projects within an assigned region or program. This role is responsible for supervising Job Superintendents, ensuring safe and efficient project execution, and maintaining alignment between field operations, project management, and company leadership. The position oversees planning, scheduling, labor performance, safety compliance, quality standards, and operational consistency across projects. This position plays a key role in developing field leadership, improving production tracking, and ensuring company policies, procedures, and performance expectations are implemented throughout all field operations. This is a safety sensitive position.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 10–15+ years of experience in electrical construction with extensive field leadership experience.
  • Previous experience as a Superintendent, Senior Superintendent, or similar field leadership role required.
  • Experience supporting large-scale commercial, industrial, or mission critical electrical construction projects preferred.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to manage multiple project teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical construction methods, sequencing, and installation practices.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards and field safety management.
  • Ability to analyze labor productivity and implement performance improvements.
  • Strong planning and scheduling knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop field leadership teams.
  • Proficiency with construction management software, reporting tools, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
  • Lift 51 pounds, routinely.
  • Constantly move about on the feet.
  • Climb ladders of all types.
  • Complete full day assignments involving overhead work.
  • Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
  • Must be capable of securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
  • Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
  • Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed.
  • This position requires flexible work hours.
  • In order to get a project completed on time, this position is often required to work overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
  • Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for Job Superintendents and field teams across multiple projects.
  • Conduct regular jobsite visits and superintendent job walks to review project performance, planning, and execution.
  • Ensure alignment between Field Operations, Project Management, and company leadership regarding project status, performance, and priorities.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership development for Superintendents and field leadership teams.
  • Review and train Superintendents on safety measures, Site Specific Safety Plans (SSSPs), and company safety performance goals.
  • Ensure safety policies and procedures are consistently implemented across all assigned projects.
  • Support field leadership in promoting a strong safety culture and addressing safety concerns proactively.
  • Develop, track, and supervise production tracking by system.
  • Review labor reports with the General Superintendent and Site Superintendents to ensure labor performance and productivity goals are achieved.
  • Monitor manpower utilization, production metrics, and labor performance trends.
  • Assist field teams in implementing corrective strategies when performance targets are not met.
  • Supervise Superintendents in the planning and scheduling of projects.
  • Provide schedule oversight and assist in developing schedule management strategies.
  • Track project schedule performance and assist with planning improvements to maintain project timelines.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the company QA/QC program.
  • Provide oversight to ensure alignment between Job Superintendents and QA/QC Superintendents.
  • Support field leadership in maintaining installation quality and resolving quality-related issues.
  • Conduct Job Superintendent job walks to review: Labor tracking and labor performance Material and tool tracking Means and methods Document control BIM workflow coordination QA/QC issues Submittal tracking Daily reports Weekly status reporting
  • Review tool rental forecasting practices and assist project teams with equipment planning as needed.
  • Direct training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and ensure understanding of company policies and procedures.
  • Support the development of field leaders through mentorship and operational guidance.
  • Assist in the review and development of company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across field operations and project execution processes.
  • Address worker concerns and grievances when appropriate.
  • Resolve issues at the field level or escalate unresolved matters to senior leadership for further action
