About The Position

The Area Sales Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, financial performance, team development, and operational excellence of their own store and multiple other stores. This role drives sales, ensures exceptional customer experience, and creates a results-oriented, high-performing team culture. The Area Sales Manager will analyze business trends, coach talent, ensure operational excellence, and develop high-potential leaders to support long-term company growth. Travel within the area is required.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of proven ability to lead and motivate high-performing teams in a retail environment.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales and profit results.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret data and take action to improve results.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and point-of-sale (POS) systems.
  • Strong retail and visual merchandising acumen.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to bend, twist, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 50 lbs.
  • Full-time availability including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support business operations and peak periods.

Responsibilities

  • Drive store/area revenue and profitability by setting and achieving sales goals, KPIs, and conversion targets.
  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service and cultivating a service-first culture.
  • Implement selling strategies that maximize results and elevate the in-store customer experience.
  • Acts as focal point for progress reporting on key performance initiatives and provides timely updates and communication to senior leadership.
  • Analyzes business trends and creates plans to increase sales and control expenses to drive overall profitability.
  • Utilizes data, statistical reports, and benchmarking to analyze current performance and identify metric-driven solutions.
  • Monitors and measures financial, operational, and service results; holds teams accountable for achieving area goals through ongoing store visits.
  • Effectively communicates business and financial objectives to management teams; audits performance, collects data, and communicates results to the Senior District Manager and corporate office.
  • Directly manage and develop a home store team of 10+ employees, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, coaching, and performance evaluations.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring, and direction for area store management teams to meet area, district and company goals.
  • Conduct regular performance appraisals to assess development needs and create individualized growth plans.
  • Builds and develops management teams to train, motivate, and challenge store teams to meet financial goals, resolve problems proactively, and enhance team performance and customer service.
  • Encourages ownership of results and empowers others to succeed.
  • Identify and build internal bench strength to support succession planning and long-term talent development.
  • Lead with a focus on accountability, teamwork, and results.
  • Ensure full compliance with all company policies, safety procedures, and training standards.
  • Audits store operations and ensures compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to business trends, traffic patterns, and customer behavior to drive operational effectiveness.
  • Build effective cross-functional partnerships with the Senior District Manager, Visual Merchandising Manager, HR, and other key leaders to support area and company-wide goals.
  • Schedule staff strategically within labor budget guidelines and make real-time adjustments based on business trends.
  • Maintain and execute outstanding visual merchandising aligned with brand standards.
  • Partner with the Visual Merchandising Manager to ensure visual directives are implemented accurately and timely across all area stores.
  • Ensure store cleanliness, organization, and presentation always meet company expectations.
