About The Position

Summary/Objective: Responsible for the overall management and productivity of all Aggregates and Mining Operations for a assigned region. Essential Functions: 1. Hire, train, develop, and motivate employees toward accomplishing company goals and objectives; perform performance appraisals as required; respond in a timely manner to employee concerns and/or complaints; and keep personnel records accurate and current. 2. Support and enforce all company safety programs. Cooperate with the company Safety Manager and continually ensure that all company operations and activities are performed in a consistently safe manner. 3. Ensure that all site operations are in strict compliance with county, state, and federal regulations pertaining to the environment. 4. Adhere to all MSHA regulations and ensure that all company operations are in compliance with all related state and federal regulations. 5. Participate in the preparation of operation budget and forecasts. Ensure effective control over all costs within assigned site. 6. Respond in a timely and courteous manner to all concerns and complaints from residents living near company operations. 7. Cooperate with the Human Resources Department in the implementation of all company policies and procedures. 8. Educate oneself continually and remain current on industry and training issues by benchmarking regularly with other companies and communicating regularly with the Training Department and other members of the industry involved with process improvement and training. 9. Strengthen and maintain a high morale and team concept throughout the company through implementation and utilization of sound leadership and management principles, in addition to promoting and employing total quality principles to achieve a more efficient and quality workplace. 10. Other duties as assigned. Aggregates/Mining 1. Oversee all Mining and Aggregate Production operations within assigned region. Coordinate and monitor daily workload with Trucking department. 2. Monitor all aggregate inventory based on type of material and gradation. Maintain the ideal amount of aggregates within assigned region. 3. Produce production reports and management reports to ensure operation is in line with company goals and objectives. 4. Ensure that all vehicles and equipment continually remain in safe and efficient operating conditions, as well as kept in a clean, presentable condition. 5. Assist in planning and coordinating the purchasing, leasing or rental of all vehicles and equipment. Equipment and Plant Maintenance 1. Work with Plant Maintenance to ensure that maintenance tasks are conducted in accordance with established scheduling guidelines. 2. Ensure that equipment is inspected in accordance with the company's Prescribed Inspection Schedule and equipment inspection and reports are completed. 3. Assist in planning and coordinating the purchasing or leasing of parts, equipment for the mining and sand and gravel plants in assigned territory. 4. Ensure that proper maintenance records are maintained. Non-Essential Functions: 1. Volunteer and participate in company events. 2. Participate in public relations with customers, organizations, and business contacts related to the industry as necessary.

Requirements

10 years’ experience in the aggregates, mining or related industry.
Written communication, verbal communication and basic mathematical skills.
Ability to use a computer, including Microsoft Office.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Able to exhibit a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to conduct advanced statistics.
Must have proven effective leadership, training and motivation skills.
Must have strong organizational skills with the ability to see the big picture.
Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Must be able to gather and analyze information skillfully.
Valid Driver’s License.
MSHA Trainer.
CPR/First Aid.
Must have knowledge of Sand and Gravel, mining, heavy equipment, construction, maintenance and the principles of mass excavation and road building.
A thorough understanding of the maintenance of heavy equipment, mining and sand and gravel equipment.
Must have a good working knowledge of OSHA, MOSH, MSHA, EPA and other regulatory agencies and laws.
High School

Prior managerial or supervisory experience preferred.
College/Undergrad
Bilingual in Spanish Preferred
