The company services municipal contracts with some of the largest and fastest growing cities in the U.S. including New York City, Austin, San Antonio, and Phoenix. About the Role: The Area Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations across multiple facilities, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant performance. This role drives operational excellence through data analysis, team engagement, and cross-functional collaboration. The Area Manager partners closely with site leadership, city stakeholders, and corporate teams to optimize productivity, manage costs, and support strategic initiatives across the region.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of experience managing multiple facilities in operations, logistics, manufacturing, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, operations, or a related field.
  • Strong operational and analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance and financial data.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple sites, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience reviewing payroll, invoices, and purchase orders.
  • Ability to identify operational gaps and implement process improvements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related systems.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong background in waste, recycling, logistics, or industrial operations.
  • Experience working with municipal or city partnerships.
  • Familiarity with safety and compliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee operations across 3 facilities, ensuring consistency in performance, processes, and compliance.
  • Review prior-day inbound volumes across all facilities to ensure accuracy and alignment with operational expectations.
  • Monitor outbound sales performance; identify trends and guide teams through performance questions and necessary adjustments.
  • Evaluate facility run times and operational efficiency; address gaps and drive continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular facility walk-throughs to observe operations, reinforce standards, and engage with employees.
  • Build strong relationships with site teams by maintaining consistent presence and open communication.
  • Check in regularly with foremen and site leadership to align on priorities, challenges, and performance expectations.
  • Facilitate and participate in team safety meetings to reinforce a culture of safety and accountability.
  • Conduct weekly check-ins with local city managers and key stakeholders, including oversight of the City of Phoenix contract.
  • Review and approve payroll for assigned sites to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Oversee purchase order (PO) requests, including review and verbal approvals prior to submission.
  • Approve invoices and ensure alignment with contracts, pricing, and budget expectations.
  • Review trade-related invoices and collaborate with accounting to resolve discrepancies.
  • Negotiate contracts and agreements with municipal partners, vendors, and third parties.
  • Partner with accounting during weekly financial review meetings.
  • Lead and participate in recurring operations, safety, maintenance, and financial meetings
  • Prepare for and contribute to market-level discussions, ensuring alignment across sites and leadership teams.
  • Ensure all facilities operate in full compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage compliance related to municipal contracts, including the City of Phoenix.
  • Partner with EHS to maintain a strong safety culture through regular engagement, audits, and communication.
