About The Position

We’re passionate about coffee, and that means we pay a bit more for coffee in order to buy direct and create long-term, collaborative relationships with our producers that grow exceptional coffee. The Retail Coffeebar Area Managers oversees 5 locations in the Los Angeles area (Venice, Hollywood, Silver Lake, Santa Monica, and Pasadena). They are responsible for the overall success of the coffeebars achieving their business goals from staffing, budgeted sales and profitability. They ensure that the Intelligentsia standards and values are being upheld daily.

Requirements

  • 4-6 years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Previous experience in coffee
  • Disciplined to create and follow consistent processes and policies
  • Demonstrates time management organization, and focuses on ability to prioritize and multi-task, with a keen focus to detail
  • Ability to work independently
  • Meets deadlines with quality results
  • Logical and methodological approach to problem solving
  • Leads by example; takes responsibility for actions and results

Responsibilities

  • A commitment to work with the coffeebar leaders to consistently deliver the ultimate expression of the brand through serving extraordinary coffee, strong merchandising, flawless execution, commitment to training, hospitable team, and neat, clean and tidy coffeebars.
  • Identifying patterns with the business that are on a downward trajectory and addressing this urgently to reverse the trend if it is within our control.
  • Clear consistent communicates with the team
  • Lead, develop, and engage a high-performing team by managing hiring, performance, and employee relations while ensuring compliance with policies, safety standards (OSHA), and organizational values.
  • Plans and executes strategies to increase sales while controlling operational costs.
  • Identifies trends and forecasts coffeebar budgets.
  • Directs improvements of retail coffeebar operations to meet high standards of operational excellence set forth by company objectives. This includes identifying areas of improvement, executing changes and documenting operational policies and procedures.
  • Ad hoc support as needed with systems, communications, events, or outside the 4-wall coffeebars to seize opportunities when they present themselves.
  • Leads team meetings 1x per week
  • Holds teams accountable to weekly labor targets, embracing sales opportunities and maintaining the condition of the coffeebars to the highest level.
  • If applicable, be proficient in any CBA that is directly related to their coffeebars.
