About The Position

The Area Manager is a hands on field leadership role responsible for the operational performance of approximately 10 branches within a region. Reporting directly to the Regional Vice President, the Area Manager serves as the primary execution and decision making layer between Branch Managers and regional leadership. This role is focused heavily on operational execution, consistency, and accountability, while also developing and coaching Branch Managers. The Area Manager is expected to spend the majority of their time in the field, working alongside branch teams to drive safety, utilization, financial performance, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 7 or more years of experience in operations, branch management, or field leadership
  • Strong understanding of safety, compliance, and asset based operations
  • Demonstrated ability to make operational decisions and hold teams accountable
  • Experience coaching and developing frontline and mid level leaders
  • Strong problem solving, communication, and execution skills
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned area, approximately 70 to 80 percent

  • Prior experience managing or supporting multiple locations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership and Execution (30%)
  • Own day-to-day operational consistency and performance across assigned branches
  • Ensure consistent execution of Ironclad operating standards
  • Identify operational gaps and drive corrective action quickly
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for Branch Managers
  • Make timely decisions to keep operations moving without unnecessary escalation
  • Safety and Compliance (10%)
  • Drive a strong safety culture across all assigned branches
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, environmental, and company safety standards
  • Partner with Safety and Fleet teams to address incidents, audits, and risk areas
  • Hold Branch Managers accountable for safe operations and practices
  • Financial and Asset Performance (20%)
  • Own branch level performance across safety, EBITDA, utilization, and operating costs
  • Monitor equipment utilization, fleet condition, and asset care
  • Approve maintenance and repair decisions within established guidelines
  • Partner with Fleet and Operations to improve asset uptime and readiness
  • People Leadership and Development (20%
  • Coach and develop Branch Managers through regular field engagement
  • Support hiring, performance management, and disciplinary actions
  • Identify and develop future leaders within branches
  • Create consistency in expectations, accountability, and leadership behaviors
  • Customer and Service Excellence (15%)
  • Support resolution of escalated customer issues
  • Ensure branches deliver reliable, high quality service
  • Partner with Sales and Operations to protect and grow customer relationships
  • Regional Partnership (5%)
  • Partner closely with the Regional Vice President to execute regional priorities
  • Provide field level insight to support strategic planning
  • Escalate issues appropriately based on defined criteria
  • Support regional initiatives and change management efforts
